The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger Over Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
